Dauphin County Common Pleas Judge Deborah Curcillo heard testimony from defense attorney Brian Perry, Chief Deputy District Attorney Johnny Bear and Craig Staudenmaier who is representing PA Media Group during a 11 minute hearing held Tuesday morning.
Brian Perry represents Hummelstown Police officer Lisa Mearkel who is charged with criminal homicide in the shooting of David Kassick, Perry filed a motion for extraordinary relief Friday asking the court to prevent video of the shooting from being released to the press claiming that broadcasting the video would taint the jury pool.
Staudenmaier argued that since the video was referred to in the arrest warrant, it's judicial record, and now of public record, he went on to say like it or not it's a great public concern, a cop has shot a man.
