On June 2, 2012, Jeffrey E. Piccola, Esquire had a "Petition for Discipline" filed against him by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel charging him with with "professional misconduct in violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct." The charges stem from his relationship with a Utah based "heir-hunting" firm, Kemp & Associates, and claims of conflicts of interest. The alleged misconduct complaint cites violation of 14 Rules of Professional Conduct including those involving misrepresentations of rate fees, conflicts of interest, soliciting clients, and deceit. In response, Piccola, soon-to-be retired Senator for PA's 15th District, filed an Answer on July 23, 2012 denying all charges, and on the matter of Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4 involving deceit, he "most strongly" denies. A hearing on this matter has been scheduled for October 24, 2012 at 9:30am in front of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. If found guilty, Piccola could have his law license suspended.---Tara Leo Auchey Tags: senator piccola, professional misconduct, office of disciplinary counsel, supreme court. Photo/Natalie Cake
