Senator Jeff Piccola names the top four fiscally distressed school districts in the State per House Bill 1307, a bill which enables the Department of Education to monitor and takeover financially troubled districts. Piccola declares the school districts of Chester Upland and Duquesne City to be "severely distressed," which puts them in place for immediate oversight. Harrisburg and York City school districts are considered "moderately distressed," which gives them access to HB 1307 tools as well as a Chief Recovery Officer to help develop a fiscally stable plan.---Tara Leo Auchey Tags: Senator Piccola Harrisburg Photo/Natalie Cake
