Harrisburg Community Leaders, Seeking to Improve Local Government, Form Bipartisan Political Action Committee Harrisburg Capital PAC to raise $100,000 to support quality candidates.

HARRISBURG, PA- Seeking to improve local political leadership in Harrisburg, a group of area community and business leaders today announced the formation of The Harrisburg Capital PAC, a political action committee with the goal of electing quality leaders who will work cooperatively to solve the City’s financial issues, improve the quality of life in the city, and raise the level of civil discourse in our local government.

“For far too long, our City has been plagued by a failure of leadership which hurts city residents, businesses, and prevents the entire region from living up to its great potential,” said Harrisburg Capital PAC’s chair Alex Hartzler, a partner in the Harrisburg-based real estate firm WCI Partners. “Harrisburg needs real leaders that will fight to get our City back on track by strengthening the city’s finances, supporting growth in the city, and committing to keeping our streets safe and clean.”

The committee will focus on supporting candidates who are willing to implement best practices that are being used in other urban areas around the region, state and country. “Cities large and small across the country are seeing a resurgence in residents and businesses interested in living and working there, explained Hartzler. “We want to help elect leaders who are open to progressive, good government ideas that work and who will themselves strive to make sure we try them in our city,” he said.

The committee will be led by a board consisting of area business leaders who collectively employ hundreds of people in the region and have a great stake in the City’s future.

All PAC board members have pledged multiyear finical commitments so the PAC can have an active role in improving the leadership in Harrisburg for years to come. (Please see attachment listing Board Members)

“We are a mix of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, but we all share a vision to make Harrisburg a better place to live, work and play.” said Hartzler. “Working with the community, I am optimistic we’ll be able to elect the kind of leadership the residents of Harrisburg deserve.”

The PAC will announce its slate of endorsed candidates on April 22nd. The Harrisburg Capital PAC is a bipartisan political action committee formed in 2013 by Harrisburg area community and business leaders to support qualified candidates for City office who are committed to changing Harrisburg’s City Government for the better.
