A New York man is charged with trying to buy a gun from an Elizabethtown shop by using a fake ID, then recruiting a man off the street to buy it for him.

Kevin Zarbailov, 21, of Brooklyn, is prohibited from owning a firearm due to a prior felony conviction, but he made two attempts Tuesday at Trop Gun Shop, 910 N. Hanover St., police allege.

First, he tried to buy a pistol using a Pennsylvania ID with the name “Usher Binhamington,” police allege.

A store clerk recognized the ID as an “obvious” fake, so he didn’t sell the weapon, an arrest affidavit shows.

Zarvailov then recruited another man to buy it for him, but the clerk realized the scam and called police.

Zarbailov was arraigned on three felony counts and bail was set at $250,000. A bondsman posted bail Wednesday and Zarbailov was released until his next court hearing.
