As released by the office of Senator Teplitz:

HARRISBURG, Aug. 7, 2013 — Small businesses may now apply for a state grant toward pollution prevention or energy efficiency projects, according to state Sen. Rob Teplitz.

The Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Small Business Advantage Grant program provides 50 percent matching grants, up to a maximum of $9,500, to enable an eligible small business to implement pollution prevention and energy efficiency practices.

“By taking steps to go green, businesses benefit economically while protecting our environment,” said Teplitz (D-Dauphin/York). “I’m pleased that the state is providing assistance to help small businesses adopt environmentally friendly practices.”

Businesses must save 25 percent plus $500 annually as a direct result of implementing the grant supported project. The grant project must be completed by June 30, 2014.

All Pennsylvania small businesses are eligible for Advantage Grant funding. According to the DEP, an eligible applicant must be a for-profit business enterprise that is a corporation, limited liability company, partnership, sole proprietorship or other legal business entity that has no more than 100 full-time employees.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 6. Applicants may submit the original application and one copy by mail to DEP Grants Center, PO Box 8776, Harrisburg, PA, 17105-8776, or in person to DEP Grants Center, 15th Floor, RCSOB, 400 Market St., Harrisburg, PA 17101-2301.
